Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
The Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC) performs a great service to the Church by distributing Holy Communion to God’s people on those occasions where there are an insufficient number of priests and deacons to distribute Holy Communion to the people present at the Mass, and to the homebound. It is an honor and a privilege to serve the Church in this capacity and requires careful preparation on the part of the EMHC.
"Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, 'This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.'"

The Ministry of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) is open to Catholics who are in good standing with the Church and who have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Requirements include being a registered parishioner at St. Joseph, attending a training session and being commissioned as an EMHC.

Altar Servers
Altar Servers assist the Priest in his sacred duty to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the re-presentation of the one sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Servers are important in carrying out the work of the liturgy in a smooth and reverent fashion.

Lectors
Lectors are members of the parish who proclaim the Word of God during the liturgy. The ministry of Lector requires skill in public reading, knowledge of the principles of liturgy, and an understanding and love of the scriptures.

The role of music ministry is to lead the faithful in active participation by assisting the community in singing its song of praise to God and offering the type of inspiration that only music has the power to achieve.

Ushers
Ushers welcome everyone who attends Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church on the weekend, help in taking up the collection, and perform a variety of other tasks to assist in the celebration of Mass.
